EM has checked into … DoubleTree by Hilton, Cape Town

After a long and full day of travelling from Melbourne to Cape Town, boy I was definitely exhausted from the plane ride including the waiting time during multiple transits. All I looked forward to was diving into a comfortable bed and DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town has certainly exceeded my expectations.

Since my excellent experience at DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne last year (Review can be viewed here), one thing I know for sure was that a good night’s sleep is guaranteed at an affordable price.

So when I had the opportunity to travel to Cape Town, I was thrilled and looking forward to experience the iconic DoubleTree by Hilton brand once more (and also couldn’t resist the temptation of tasting their signature chocolate chip cookies)!

What do I think about it? Read on and find out!

Arrival

DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town is located fairly close to the international airport (approximately 15 to 30 mins drive away depending on traffic conditions) and also within close proximity to the city and many tourist attractions including the iconic waterfront. Uber is the way of transportation here in Cape Town and it is very cheap compared to other countries that I’ve been to.

The hotel also provides a complimentary shuttle services to the V&A waterfront daily and at regular timings. So it was definitely an extra benefit for me to take advantage of it!

First impression of the lobby was that it was spacious and inviting, largely due to the fact that the hotel made use of an open area concept to allow plenty of sunlight coming in. Everything looks modern with a touch of chic-ness, plus the impressive hanging chandelier at the side of the reception desk made the lobby extra spacious and sophisticated.

My check-in was prompt, friendly and filled with plenty of smiles which was what I needed after a long flight. Of course, I was presented with the warm signature chocolate chip cookie that I have been longing for! DoubleTree by Hilton sure got their recipe right and I think it is the only reason why I would prefer to stay at any DoubleTree by Hilton hotels around the world.

Room

The room was at a decent and comfortable size with a 43-inch SMART TV so that guests can relax and unwind after a long day of travels or exploration.

Most importantly, the main feature that I simply love about DoubleTree by Hilton hotels is its signature Sweet Dreams® by DoubleTree beds. These magical beds will work wonders to your sleep and your body will thank you later!

There was also a mini refrigerator in the room along with universal plug points strategically located around the room for ultimate convenience for every traveller.

Bathroom

The bathroom was gigantic with a large shower area. For the price I paid, this was certainly a surprise as I would expect a small sized bathroom for a standard room category.

Same as to what I have experienced at DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne, this property also provided Crabtree & Evelyn bathroom amenities, one of my favourite brands as they are of good quality and scent. They will instantly refresh and rejuvenate your senses while you shower.

Public areas

The hotel also has an on-site restaurant, Liberty’s, serving contemporary and fusion food items. I heard that their burgers are amazing and handmade too! Combined with the restaurant, there is Estreet Bar that has an impressive collection of drinks displayed, perfect for an evening night out or to spoil yourself a drink or two when the day is done.

Next to the restaurant, there is also a comfortable lounge area with stylish decor, which guests can take advantage of to work or relax.

The most interesting area that I love at DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town is the outdoor herb garden. Not only it is sustainable, fresh herb for the dining menu can be tasted and enjoyed by guests! A win win solution for everyone.

Verdict

Overall, DoubleTree by Hilton Cape Town definitely has exceeded my expectations. It provides so much more value at a reasonable price AND the most important factor is that I felt like a brand new person the next day to ready to conquer the city of Cape Town.

I felt that this hotel has kept the crucial theme of ‘spacious-ness’. From the moment I walked into the lobby to my room, everything was spacious and open-aired with plenty of sunlight to brighten up the day.

Not only you can look forward to the irresistible warm chocolate chip cookie that is to die for, you can certainly sink and fall in love with the signature Sweet Dreams® DoubleTree bed.

The views from the room were spectacular and breathtaking. Unwind and watch while the sun sets in the background and the next morning, refresh and witness the sun rises up with the most beautiful amber glow.

Let’s not forget about the incredible friendly staff that represents the true Hilton hospitality, every staff member has been delightful and a simple genuine smile can go a very long way.

All these at an affordable price - what a value!

So if you are travelling to Cape Town and need somewhere comfortable to stay without breaking your bank account, come and stay at DoubleTree by Hilton, you won’t regret it.

Till next time, take care and stay inspired.

xoxo EM
