DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne - Flinders Street
EM has checked into ... DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne - Flinders Street
Taking over from the former hotel Citigate Melbourne, DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne has given the facade a slick makeover, highlighting its neighbouring locations such as Flinders Street Station and the iconic quirky laneways. From the entrance to the lobby, the hotel gives off a very industrial vibe yet there is something quite mysterious about it. Maybe it is the darker deco that makes you feel like you are in a hippy train station. But when you enter the rooms, it has completely transformed to an extreme freshness and instantly refreshes you to get ready for bed.
The hotel is definitely convenient with Flinders Street Station right at its doorstep and you can easily access to major attractions through walking distance. But if walking is a no for you, fear not, you have multiple tram stops to choose from that can get you anywhere in the CBD.
Since I have experienced a couple of DoubleTree by Hilton hotels in Asia, I was curious to see how this one compares. Overall, I truly did enjoyed my stay here with many thumbs ups. Whether if it is worth it, read further to find out.
Room
I have stayed in the standard king room so this will be perfect for anyone who just need the basic essentials. The room gives off a 'wow' factor with white bed sheets, white walls and white tiled bathroom. There wasn't any wrinkle on the bed so it gives a slight luxurious touch and definitely drawing anyone to hop on the bed and snooze. Oh and I almost forgot to mention the signature DoubleTree by Hilton cookie which anyone will receive upon arrival. Definitely enlightened my mood while munching on the cookie in the room.
Verdict
Overall, I think DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne - Flinders Street is definitely worth the value and in fact more than I was expecting! From the hotel ambience to the tiny details in the room, everything was superb and making it easy for guests to relax and rest well. The technology invested by the parent chain Hilton should be well recognised and I have to say a very smart strategy to attract upcoming generations.
One thing to note is that this hotel might not be a place for someone who is seeking for a luxury-style rejuvenation (which is not what the hotel aims to be anyway) but it is highly recommended for leisure and business travellers who just want a comfortable place to stay at the end of the day. In addition to its excellent location and value, DoubleTree by Hilton Melbourne - Flinders Street is definitely a must for your next trip in Melbourne CBD.
Till next time, take care and stay inspired.
